The Superior Court is Georgia's general jurisdiction trial court. It has jurisdiction over both criminal cases such as felony cases, divorce cases, equity cases and cases that involve a jury. For example, if you are charged with a misdemeanor or traffic violation but request a jury trial, you will be transferred to Richmond County Superior Court.

Richmond County is part of the Augusta Judicial Circuit. There are eight judges on the circuit that rotate through multiple counties. Honorable J. Carlisle Overstreet is the Chief Judge for the Augusta Judicial Circuit and his office can be reached at 706-821-2444. Judge Michael N. Annis, Judge James G. Blachard Jr., Judge Carl C. Brown Jr., Judge Daniel J. Craig, Judge Sheryl B. Jolly, Judge J. Wade Padgett, and Judge David Roper are the other judges on the Augusta Judicial Circuit. Richmond County State Court

Richmond County State Court prosecutes misdemeanors and traffic violations that occur in Richmond County but outside of the City Limits of Hephzibah. Four judges preside over Richmond County State Court: Chief Judge Richard A. Slaby, Judge David D. Watkins, Judge Patricia W. Booker, and Judge Kellie K. McIntyre. Omeeka P.
